My abstract work could be suggested as being inspired by my love for the outdoors, natural elements and the human connection to the world . Every piece derives from something . This could be forms captured in my sketchbook, places I have visited, a memory or a moment past. My process is rooted in the fundamentals of drawing and painting but with a keen interest in the expansion of this . I’m driven by creative experimentation and a curiosity as to what different materials and methods can achieve.
To create my pieces I generate raw marks either using self made tools , discarded waste or old fabric remnants. I primarily use oil paints although I frequently combine it with other mediums and materials to investigate the alchemy of their interactions. Adding, excavating, scratching and gestural mark making are all part of my art practice. Enjoying an organic way of working ensures that my pieces embrace the interplay of intention and chance.
